The Geneos Gateway Commands REST API allows programmatic, automatic triggering of Geneos commands, which take remediating action in the monitoring environment. This REST based API allows for some nice integrations and automation.

This blog is a compendium of common errors and snags one might run into working with this Command REST Service, as well as some getting started tips. Further I walk through avoiding and handling each of these common pitfalls.

The Geneos Gateway Commands REST API allows programmatic, automatic triggering of Geneos commands, which take remediating action in the monitoring environment. This REST based API allows for some nice integrations and automation.

This blog explores the REST APIs functionality, and shows examples of a couple uses. It shows how the API can run any Geneos command, not just Snooze commands. Also covered is getting a list of available commands, running commands with arguments, as well as creating a custom command on the gateway and running that command via the API.

Kdb+ database monitoring with Geneos

I recently worked on a project in which a client wanted to monitor data within a Kdb+ database using Geneos. Below I have shared some information about Kdb+ and, perhaps more importantly, how I went about this task.

A bit about Kdb+

Kdb+ is an in-memory, column-oriented database based on the concept of ordered lists. In-memory means it primarily stores its data in RAM. Column oriented database means that each column of data is stored sequentially in memory, making it extremely quick at aggregate queries (sum, average, min, max, etc.).
